After everything had quietly sifted through my head a great peace came over me. Here, where the river gently winds through the girdle of hills, lies a soil so saturated with the past that however far back the mind roams one can never detach it from its human background. Before my eyes shimmered such a golden peace that only a neurotic could dream of turning his head away. So quietly flows the water that one hardly notices its presence. It is always there, quiet and unobtrusive, like a great artery running through the human body. In the wonderful peace that fell over me it seemed as if I had climbed to the top of a high mountain: for a little while I would be able to look around me, to take in the meaning of the landscape. Human beings make a strange fauna and flora. From a distance they appear negligible, close up they are apt to appear ugly and malicious. More than anything they need to be surrounded with sufficient space-space even more than time. The sun is setting. I feel this river flowing through meets past, its ancient soil, the changing climate. The hills gently girdle it about, its course is fixed.

Restless Leg Syndrome - Dabkeh

Hey folks, today I want to introduce to you the "Restless Leg Syndrome" based in Austria. Their brand new EP called "Dabkeh" is a great mixture of Breaks and Scratches combined with arabian percussions and samples from traditional mediterranean music. The concept behind the joint-venture consisting of d.b.h and the two turntable wizards Chrisfader and Testa is quite simple: Take a specific genre of music, sample and flip it into danceable beats. In the case of their second EP, named after a popular Mediterranean form of line-dancing, the subject of the musical explorations is the Arab world. The three guys from RLS spent quite some time mining old vinyl or cassettes to create the tracks on this EP, in the hopes of getting some wild Dabkeh moves started on dancefloors worldwide!

Nitin Sawhney - Last Days of Meaning - Remixes

I hope everybody knows Nitin Sawhney? In my opinion he is one of the greatest producers within the fusion of global sounds. His new album "Last Days Of Meaning" is out since june. It is not as experimental as his older releases and lesser influenced by electronic music but digging deeper into folk, soul and pop music. Nevertheless there are again some beautiful tracks and collaborations on this album, that will be definitely the right choice for a cold winter day, I believe.
For everybody who needs some more beats, there are some remixes on nitin's soundcloud page, including some dupstep and experimental electronica interpretations. These are available for free!
